Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for leading the project team in programme design and planning to deliver programme objectives, in line with Country Strategy
Deliver demonstrable impact through direct programme action and advocacy action based on programme experience and outcomes in order to bring about policy and practice changes relating to SOS CVI’s values.
Proactively ensure that child protection and gender equity issues are taken into account in all aspects of SOS’s work.
Provide technical on-site guidance and actively monitor the construction of FBC facilities and ensure they meet quality standards.
Ensure CBOs work in an integrated way aiming to achieve optimum involvement of and benefit for beneficiaries from SOS’s activities.
Overall responsible for monitoring and evaluation of programme, ensuring learning is documented and applied in the programme to achieve impact.
Work closely with the Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Manager in the development and maintaining a clear and effective project monitoring and evaluation plan against qualitative and quantitative indicators ensuring that accountability and learning is taking place.
Ensure an accountability plan is in place and all staff are aware and work against the plan
Conduct monitoring visits to project sites to meet the beneficiaries for necessary verification the reported progress.
Take the lead in proposal development/design with support from Head of Programmes, Technical Advisors, and National Director.
In line with SOS CV Mozambique performance management procedures, line manage staff – ensuring that overall performance management is in place and used effectively by project team
Draw up a professional development plan for staff, giving regular advice, guidance and feedback.
Build a strong team spirit and vision, ensuring that discussions on country strategy, project implementation strategies and detailed implementation planning are shared with the team
Ensure internal coordination mechanism is in place (regular staff meeting) and feedback is provided to all project locations
Skills and Competences
At least five years’ experience in project management, managing various projects. Post holder should also have good understanding of child protection and gender equality.
Degree in Development Studies, MA is an added advantage
A proven record of effective and complex management including managing budgets, staff and funding of the programme. This includes excellent people management skills, with a good understanding of team development and proven financial management skills.
Proven ability to work creatively, innovatively and effectively with limited direct supervision.
Proven experience of managing restricted donor contracts (prior experience of managing NORAD and SDC funds is desirable)
Excellent organizational, problem-solving and negotiation skills. The ability to remain calm whilst deal with conflicting priorities/work under pressure is essential.
The ability to take the initiative and work independently as well work as a team player – supporting other departments is essential
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal Portuguese and English) and the ability to write clear, concise reports in both languages.
