Ethiopia: PSNP Contingency Budget Documentation Consultant (30 days), Addis Ababa, (Open for Non-Ethiopian Nationals)

Purpose

To document main impact of UNICEF support to PSNP Contingency Budget and illustrate it in human interest stories, supported by a video documentary and several photo stories.

How can you make a difference?

Tasks

  • Develop concept to document above mentioned areas (PSNP emergency-responsive component, UNICEF approach towards integrated Social Protection systems, UNICEF support to PSNP Contingency Budget), including timeline
  • Conduct field visits to both Somali and Oromiya regions
  • Present draft outputs to UNICEF team.
  • Submit final package to UNICEF SPESI team (reports and briefs with illustrations, photos stories, video, pictures)
  • Task & Anticipated Timeline

    Concept Development - 5 days

    Field Visits to Oromiya and Somali Regions-10 days

    Drafting of report, policy brief and photo stories-7 days

    Presentation of draft report (including power point slides), 4 page policy brief and photo stories, incl. pictures and videos- 3 days

    Finalization of all deliverables - 5 days

    TOTAL contract duration - 30 days

    Expected Deliverables

    The following deliverable should be provided to UNICEF Ethiopia to the satisfaction of UNICEF in good condition and standard:

  • A short report (not exceeding 15 pages) - based on the produced Human Interest Stories – about the overall impact of the UNICEF support to the PSNP Contingency budget.
  • A power point presentation.
  • A summary report/policy brief (not exceeding 4 pages) about the overall findings
  • 3 minutes edited documentary in English (Audio + Video.
  • Set of pictures illustrating above named core components of the PSNP shock-responsive provision and the respective SIDA/UNICEF support.
  • Several photo stories (3-5) further illustrating the above-mentioned core components of the PSNP and SIDA/UNICEEF support
  • A word document that has the narration, translation, transcription of interviews and script of the video as per UNICEF guideline
  • Footage of shooting that has to be on HD 1080i, 16:9 format
  • Submit in a split tracks, preferably in H264 (compressed) or move file
  • Provide all raw material of the production in an external hard drive (a log and English transcript for each tape with the location shoot dates, full names and titles of characters).
  • To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Social Science or related field. *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • A minimum of 6 yearsof relevant professional experience inthe production of high quality reports to be used for high-level advocacy and donor relations.
  • Familiarity and/or experience in the Social Protection context of Ethiopia would be an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in working with various government and development partner stakeholders
  • Excellent coordination, communication and team working skills
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • * There will be a frequent travel to Oromiya & SNNP region.
