Abt Associates, a mission-driven, global leader in research and program implementation in the field of international development, seeks qualified candidates for an upcoming USAID-funded Clinical HIV/AIDS Services Strengthening project in Mozambique. The objective of the program is to reduce HIV transmission and mitigate the impact of the HIV epidemic through improved service delivery, community linkages, and health system strengthening. Successful candidates will be proficient in Portuguese, have a proven record of leading large teams in multiple sites to achieve results, have experience working with USAID funded projects, and have demonstrated skills in HIV/AIDS care and treatment..
Responsibilities:
Provides technical leadership in the area of clinical HIV/AIDS care and treatment
Ensures that project strategies, activities, and implementation are in line with latest global and Mozambique Ministry of Health’s (MOH) HIV/AIDS guidelines
Provides technical support to MOH HIV/AIDS working groups
Supervises and mentors project clinical team
Qualifications:
Medical Degree (or foreign equivalent)
Expertise in HIV/AIDS, with at least 10 years of experience working with HIV/AIDS programming, and at least 5 years in a leadership position
Deep knowledge of and experience with the Mozambican health system
Proven track record implementing quality improvement interventions at health facility level;
Proven ability to effectively lead and manage large, multi-disciplinary teams to achieve results
Ability to liaise effectively with and develop consensus among key stakeholders, including USAID, national and local officials, public, private, and civil society partners
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience working in Mozambique, Southern Africa, or Eastern Africa preferred
Experience working with PEPFAR funded projects preferred
Proficiency in English required.
Proficiency in Portuguese required.
