Abt Associates, a mission-driven, global leader in research and program implementation in the field of international development, seeks qualified candidates for an upcoming USAID-funded Clinical HIV/AIDS Services Strengthening project in Mozambique. The objective of the program is to reduce HIV transmission and mitigate the impact of the HIV epidemic through improved service delivery, community linkages, and health system strengthening. Successful candidates will be proficient in Portuguese, have a proven record of leading large teams in multiple sites to achieve results, have experience working with USAID funded projects, and have demonstrated skills in HIV/AIDS care and treatment.
Responsibilities:
Provides technical leadership in the area of health systems strengthening, including Human Resources, Health (HRH), Health Information Systems (HIS), Logistics, and Management and/or administration
Ensures that project strategies, activities, and implementation are in line with latest best practices regrading HRH, HIS, Logistics, and management
Provides technical support to MOH on HRH, HIS, logistics, and management issues
Supervises and mentors project health system strengthening team
Qualifications:
A minimum of a Master’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in international development, public health, hospital/health management, public/business administration, international relations, other social sciences, or a similar relevant field.
At least 7-10 years of relevant management, supervisory, and technical experience working with large international health projects
Experience working with HIV/AIDS programming preferred.
Deep knowledge of and experience with the Mozambican health system
Proven ability to effectively lead and manage large, multi-disciplinary teams to achieve results
Ability to liaise effectively with and develop consensus among key stakeholders, including USAID, national and local officials, public, private, and civil society partners
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience working in Mozambique, Southern Africa, or Eastern Africa preferred
Proficiency in English required.
Proficiency in Portuguese required.
