We are currently seeking a long-term Value Chain Manager for an upcoming USAID-funded Feed the Future Value Chain (FTF VC) Activity in Mozambique. The project will have a strong focus on sustainable, private-sector driven market development in the groundnut, sesame, soybean, common beans, cowpeas, pigeon peas, banana and cashew value chains. The project will include a value chain assessment of identified value chains and use the least intrusive interventions of facilitation, to ensure sustainability by working through market participants as drivers of change. The objective of the FTF VC Activity is to decrease the prevalence of poverty and underweight children under five years of age, by increasing equitable growth in the agriculture sector and improving the nutritional status of Mozambicans in focus provinces. Responsibilities:
Lead the project’s overall technical direction, vision and leadership under the supervision of the Chief of Party.
Oversee development of value chain analyses and production and implementation of value chain work plans that identify interventions and activities in each value chain.
Develop the capacity of producers and SMEs in Mozambique to identify and respond to domestic, regional and international business opportunities in target value chains.
Facilitate the development of inclusive supply chains linking producers to value added markets.
Scale-up commercially viable post-harvest handling and storage technologies and practices that ensure food safety and quality and limit post-harvest deterioration.
Facilitate private sector investment in supply chain infrastructure, including but not limited to grain storage facilities.
Improve the commercial viability of market information platforms, and ensure equitable access to information by men, women and youths.**Qualifications:**
Master’s degree in agriculture or a business related field.
Minimum of five years of experience as the technical manager for donor-funded value chain, Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P), and/or Market Systems Development projects.
Demonstrated success using facilitation in at least one of the following: the USAID value chain approach, M4P, or Market Systems Development approach, which led to greater competitiveness and inclusiveness in markets.
Experience conducting value chain analysis and developing value chain work plans is desired.
Excellent communication skills for a wide audience of stakeholders.
Fluency in English is required. Fluency in Portuguese is desired.
