Since 1994, we have implemented social marketing, social franchising and behavior change communication to deliver prevention and treatment products and services across a wide range of health areas including HIV/AIDS, family planning, malaria, and water-borne diseases.
We are looking for a Malaria Technical Advisor to provide technical guidance for a prospective USAID-funded malaria project in Mozambique. The Malaria Technical Advisor is responsible for providing technical assistance and ensuring the technical quality of services. The Technical Advisor will be responsible for providing technical inputs at the global and country level, technical leadership, communication and relationship management with key partners/stakeholders, and facilitation of global knowledge sharing on key aspects of malaria prevention and control activities. Your contribution You will** be responsible for providing technical inputs, managing relationships with key stakeholders, and facilitating knowledge sharing on aspects of Malaria Control and Prevention partners. You will:

  • Overall responsibility and oversight of the Integrated Malaria project program implementation and program deliverables.
  • Provide programmatic support to consortium implementing partners to ensure program outcomes and milestones are met on a quarterly basis and throughout the program performance period.
  • Prepare program quarterly reports and support USAID annual reviews by ensuring high quality technical inputs, data and analysis, and clear presentation of results achieved.
  • Ensure quality programming through coordination, execution and documentation of quarterly field monitoring visits, including monitoring progress against logical framework indicators and milestones, and indicate revisions to the milestones where appropriate.
  • Work closely, coordinate and collaborate with other project management team members to ensure effective delivery of the Integrated Malaria program.
  • Support the evidence and learning agenda for the Integrated Malaria project, including coordinating execution and dissemination of findings, best practices, lessons learned case studies and other evidence with relevant stakeholders to inform health programming across Mozambique.
  • Support development and delivery of regular communication products on the Integrated Malaria program on its range of activities and results.
  • Act as main program liaison and focal point with donor technical focal persons, health authorities and other health sector partners.
  • Represent the Integrated Malaria project at external health sector coordination forums and meetings.

What are we looking for? The basics**

  • You have a Master's degree in public health, social sciences, or related degree.
  • You have at least five years of experience managing large and complex USAID Malaria control/prevention programs or community-based malaria case management and support projects of similar scope, and preferably in Africa.
  • You have experience working with malaria prevention and control in one of the following areas – LLIN, IRS, IPTp, and/or fever case management.
  • You have experience in designing and implementing malaria prevention, care and treatment projects.
  • You have demonstrated ability to ensure gender integration in project design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
  • You are fluent in English and Portuguese.
  • References will be required.
