ZOA Relief│Hope| Recovery is a Dutch based international Christian NGO working in the fields of emergency relief and recovery operations to support the lives of refugees, returnees, internally displaced and victims of conflicts and natural disasters.

ZOA Relief│Hope│Recovery, Ethiopia is currently looking for a qualified and motivated candidate who will lead and direct ZOA projects in Gambella Regional state, Ethiopia

Position: Programme Manager

Duty Station: Gambella Town (unaccompanied duty station)

Salary: Depending on qualification and experience

Starting date: ASAP

Position Summary: This position requires experience in providing hands-on management of humanitarian relief and development projects under challenging conditions. The Program Manager will lead ZOA projects in the Gambella Regional State, including providing overall direction, guidance and motivation to ZOA field staff members, strengthening partnerships with all stakeholders, and assisting in the development of future projects.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead and inspire ZOA Gambella Porgramme staff; advise on conduct and direction of program, field assessments, agency policies and donor requirements.
  • Ensure effective Project Cycle Management
  • Maintain technical oversight for the implementation of work plans, with accountability for the results and outcomes.
  • Undertake analysis of project activities, costs and operations, and determine progress toward stated goals and objectives
  • Ensure program activities are consistent with donors and government standards.
  • Submit periodic program reports to the Addis Ababa country office in a timely and consistent manner
  • Track financial aspects of program implementation, including budgets, projection of expenses, pipeline analysis, and processing of expenses.
  • Analyze technical procedures and governmental regulations related to project implementation.
  • Maintain the full engagement of beneficiaries, partners and donors
  • Represent ZOA at local and regional levels; ensure effective working relationships with government and non-government agencies.
  • Promote project results, impact, and visibility with government and non government partners and agencies and to the general public
  • Evaluate project results and make recommendations for future program direction; work closely with the Addis Ababa country office Senior Staff to develop and maintain strategy for ongoing country programs.
  • Assist strategize for country-wide programming.

Essential competencies and experience required:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Humanitarian Relief and Development, International Relations, Non-Profit Management, Project Management, Economics or other related field of studies.
  • Minimum 6 years for Master’s Degree and 8 years for Bachelor’s Degree, experience in project management working with multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary staff in an NGO settings. Experience in livelihoods programming and capacity building a plus.
  • Prior experience in developing nations, preferably in unsecured areas.
  • Proven ability to live and work in challenging environments
  • Proven success in leading and managing staff
  • Excellent analytical and strategy skills.
  • Superior writing skills.
  • Financial management and analysis skills
  • Ethiopian nationals preferred
  • Fluency in oral and written English
  • Prior regional experience highly desired.
