OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
Our client is undertaking a technical education development project in Africa for the improvement of urban sector and human resource development of government services. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, our client will be preparing occupational training material, assessing the competency of a significant number of government employees in numerous government occupations, training new TVET trainers in these occupations, reviewing and revising assessment tools and methodology, and providing technical advice and support to the relevant government service department.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Experience and expertise required includes (not inclusively) integrated solid waste management systems (SWM), SWM services, SWM system designing and implementing, SWM cost recovery mechanisms, cost effective innovative technology in SWM systems and its implementation, private sector involvement in SWM systems and services provision, SWM transfer stations and landfills operations and management systems, special care waste handling (mostly solid hazardous waste), transporting and treating waste, SWM health and safety issues, stakeholders and community participation in SWM systems, solid waste minimization, reuse, recycling and proper disposing and handling of waste, SWM legal frameworks, occupations standard, and their enforcement mechanisms, public education and awareness raising program mechanisms, and SWM Institutional set up.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
§ at a minimum Bachelor of Engineering (sanitary or environmental emphasis) or equivalent
§ at least six (6) years’ TVET experience in training and assessment (within above field an advantage)
§ at least ten (10) years’ experience in solid waste management with specialisation in municipal solid waste management and related services (15+ years an advantage)
§ be available to commence in May 2016
