Crop Value Chain Advisor, Ethiopia
We are currently seeking a Crop Value Chain Advisor for an anticipated multiyear, USAID-funded Feed the Future project in Ethiopia that will focus on agricultural development, agribusiness and market Development. This project will work to sustainably reduce poverty and hunger by improving the productivity and competitiveness of value chains that offer jobs and income opportunities for rural households.

Responsibilities:
• Inform and implement the crop value chain development strategy
• Supervise staff and ensure that the quality of work leads to the achievement of the activity goals
• Work closely with the other leadership team members to coordinate closely with all stake holders to identify and resolve conflicts and to find opportunities to strengthen collaboration
• Draw on desk research and meetings with stakeholders to determine constraints and opportunities within the value chain
• Responsible for ensuring that cross cutting issues such as gender, youth, nutrition, and a climate smart approach are integrated in crop value chain activities
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure improved access to markets, improved access to financial and non-financial services, strengthened lead firms, and increased trade
• Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of reports and documents to USAID, national governments, ACDI/VOCA headquarters and other partner organizations.

Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in crop production, agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural economics or related field is required or equivalent work experience.
• Ten years of professional work experience in crop production and/or crop protection, food security or relevant or related sector.
• Seven years of experience related for profit agribusiness or value chain development including facilitation, agribusiness, marketing and financial services, private sector development, and enabling environment policy reforms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced ICT skills.
• Five years of experience with gender mainstreaming.
• Work experience in Ethiopia and/or other East African countries preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to be collaborative across projects, flexible and creative.
• Fluency in English.
