Deputy Director Program Operations
In order to be successful you will bring/have:
Essential
* Master´s Degree in areas related to Save the Children’s work (International Development, Project Management, or relevant field required, Food Security related, and/or Education, Health, Economics)
* Relevant studies and experience in Project Management cycle and community development.
* Must have a minimum of 8 years of experience in program management, community development and management of diverse teams in project implementation.
* Must have proven experience in conflict humanitarian emergencies (CHE).
* Experience of managing multi-donor, multi-site programmes (including ECHO, DFID and OFDA) of GBP 5 – 10m, preferably in insecure contexts
* Significant knowledge of international humanitarian systems, institutions and donors, and of procedures, accountability frameworks and best practices in emergency management
* Very good understanding of programming in conflict related locations
* Excellent planner and ability to work independently, initiative, multi-tasking and strong facilitation skills in an ever changing, dynamic environment.
* A good background and understanding of aspects around Safety and Security as well as Supply Chain.
* Ability to work effectively in insecure environments is critical.
* Excellent team builder. Ability to coach others and work in a team environment
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, coaching and negotiation capacity.
* Good risk management analysis, monitoring and control capacity to keeps track of the identified risks and to ensures the execution of risk response plans, and evaluates their effectiveness
* Good understanding of operational, financial, awards and support services management processes.
* Commitment and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
* Experience of managing, building, leading and developing a team of senior staff with diverse backgrounds and expertise.
* Experience of problem solving through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy-in.
* Experience managing crisis situation requiring quick changes to priorities and rapid action to respond.
* Experience in coordinating and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders for the implementation of projects.
* Language, Portuguese and English working proficiency for both written and spoken ability.
* Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notice and for extended periods of time
* A high level of computer literacy (word, excel, ppt, internet programs, etc.)
Desired
* Highly organised with good administration skills for order and information management, able to develop filing systems and databases to ensure an auditable trail.
* A good understanding of security issues in some parts of Mozambique
* Ability to provide support and performance management remotely and work within a matrix management structure.
* International exposure or has previous experience of working outside Mozambique.
* Dynamic, innovative and creative.
Contract duration: Open if national (1 year if international)
