Our core services include program evaluations, opinion polling, third party monitoring, and capacity building for UN Agencies, NGOs, governments and private sector clients operating in post-conflict and challenging environments. Forcier currently has offices in South Sudan, Somalia, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Mozambique, and Egypt.
Job Description: The Research Officer will report to the Director of Research and will be responsible for data
collection and analysis. In particular, the responsibilities of the Research Officer are to:
• Conduct literature reviews, draft concept notes and inception reports, and gather relevant
background information as necessary;
• Draft quantitative and qualitative data collection tools for projects covering a range of subject
matters;
• Conduct data entry, data quality assurance, data cleaning;
• Analyze qualitative and quantitative, and lead report writing;
• Train and supervise a team of researchers and support staff during project execution;
• Develop budgets and staffing plans, and monitor their effective execution;
• Manage the logistics of the research team in the field and organize/coordinate planning sessions;
• Ensure project documentation is collected and maintained in such a way to assist donor reporting
and the M&E requirements of the program;
• Lead, plan, and coordinate assigned projects in a timely manner;
• Monitor progress of projects and provide weekly status reports and operations solutions to the
Director of Research on a regular basis;
• Interface with clients, local officials, suppliers, partners and the Director of Research on project
operations
• Promote and inspire Forcier’s core values;
• Perform other tasks as agreed between the Research Officer and the Director of Research.

*Required qualification***
M.A. degree (or equivalent) in international affairs/development, political science, or a related field
with 2+ years of work experience, OR B.A. degree (or equivalent) in international
affairs/development, political science, or a related field with 5+ years of work experience;
At least 1 year of experience (professional or academic) conducting quantitative and/or qualitative
data analysis and report writing;
Experience collecting quantitative or qualitative data will be considered an asset;
At least 1 year of project management experience;
Prior experience managing project budgets, timeline and logistics preferred;
Knowledge of STATA or SPSS for data quality assurance, data cleaning and data analysis
required;
Experience collaborating with and managing diverse, multi-cultural teams;
Eagerness to learn and be pushed into new areas, and ability to learn from mistakes;
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
Ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines;
Willingness to work long hours when needed;
Creativity and an ability to think outside the box to conceptualize projects and implementation
strategies;
Prior experience living and working in a developing country, preferably in Mozambique;
A sense of humor and comfort with ambiguity;
Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese.
The position is based in Maputo, Mozambique with some travel to the field. Travel will be approved
based on the Forcier Consulting Standard Security Operating Procedure. The Research Officer retains
the right to refuse to travel to locations based on insecurity at his/her discretion.
