Founded in 2003, PSI/Ethiopia has developed national results-based programs for malaria, HIV/AIDS and child survival. These programs are creating realistic opportunities for both private and public sector partners to make long-term investments that help Ethiopia's most vulnerable lead healthier lives.

We are looking for a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) to help us plan and coordinate all activities under an anticipated 5-year USAID-funded HIV Key and Priority Populations Activity in Ethiopia. The DCOP will support the in-country management and implementation components of the program, aimed at identifying key and priority populations, providing HIV prevention and treatment services, and linking with community- and facility-based HIV services across the clinical cascade in Ethiopia.

This position is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and is contingent on award.

Your contribution

  • Provide technical and strategic leadership for evidence-based program design, rollout and demonstration of program performance
  • Lead the design and implementation of new initiatives through regular performance and process improvement
  • Lead the management of a differentiated care model for key and priority populations
  • Manage a team of technical staff to ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency of all products and services generated under the program
  • In collaboration with the Strategic Information Director, ensure consistent generation of quality data for timely decision-making at all levels
  • Lead work plans, and review and track performance
  • Ensure responsiveness to donors, the Government of Ethiopia and stakeholders on programmatic matters
  • Serve as the principal institutional liaison to Government of Ethiopia regional structures and institutions
  • Oversee day-to-day program management
  • Lead national level epidemiological thinking and thought leadership on key and priority population programs

What are we looking for?

  • A Masters degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related fields
  • Minimum of 10 experience in implementing and managing large health and HIV programs involving multiple partners, in/for Sub Saharan/developing countries
  • Minimum of five years of experience in designing, implementing and managing community based HIV programs, institutional/ organizational capacity building, in sub-Saharan/developing countries
  • Demonstrated strategic vision, interpersonal skills, and written and oral presentation skills in English
  • Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain productive working relationships with a wide network of internal and external stakeholders, including host country government
