Since 1998 TechnoServe has worked with enterprising people in Mozambique to develop the competitive and sustainable commercial agricultural sector. We are currently implementing four agriculture programs in the country, along with four other industry and entrepreneurship focused programs. The Director, Agriculture Programs will collaborate with the Mozambique Country Director to develop, implement, and monitor TechnoServe's agriculture programs throughout Mozambique.
As Director, Agriculture Programs you will:
- Lead agriculture program strategy development and oversight in coordination with the Mozambique Country Director
- Direct all aspects of program management and implementation to meet donor compliance
- Oversee a team of 5 full-time staff and several specialist consultants
- Direct communications with donors, ensuring quality and timeliness of all reporting
- Provide overall guidance and support to all partners including agri-business private companies
- Oversee and manage project-related budgets and procurements
- Manage sub-contractors to ensure quality performance and timely, accurate reporting
- Manage an effective monitoring ad evaluation process for all programs
- Contribute to establishing a team culture grounded on collaboration, openness, and learning
You will have:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, with at least 10 years of specific experience in agriculture, agribusiness or related program areas
- Master's Degree preferred with at least 7 years of specific experience in agriculture, agribusiness or related program areas preferred
- Knowledge of agribusiness and agriculture sectors in Southern Africa. Experience in Mozambique preferred
- Experience in managing large donor funded projects preferred
- Demonstrated excellence in managing people, projects, and budgets
- Strong organizational skills and a capacity to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines with high level of attention to detail
- Independent judgment and strong decision-making skills required, with limited supervision
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Fluency in English and working proficiency in Portuguese is required
