PURPOSE OF THE POST

Under the direct supervision of the Communication Specialist (P4), the Partnership Officer will assist in building and managing alliances and partnerships with key influencers and children's advocates (including UNICEF Mozambique Ambassadors) on child rights promotion. S/he will assist in building and managing alliances and partnerships with the private sector, government, media, development partners and civil society for advocacy, awareness raising and fulfilment of child rights in the business context (within the framework of child rights and business principles), including providing support to partners, document best practices and encouraging the sharing of information and lessons learnt between organizations to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach between the activities of partner organizations. S/he should prepare communication and promotional materials in support of the partnerships programme and related initiatives, and assists in the planning, logistic and administrative arrangements for them. S/he is responsible to organize and generate public support for special events and activities engaging key stakeholders and decision-makers. The incumbent should assist in the generation of evidence based information for child rights awareness.

SUMMARY OF KEY FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assists in building alliances and partnerships between the private sector, Government and civil society groups in order to promote the respect, protection and fulfilment of child rights at the centre of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda in the country, and the private sector is increasingly engaged in sustainable and multi-year child friendly social programming, with minimal social harm resulting from their operations. (30%)
  • Coordinates all aspects of the UNICEF public-private partnerships, Child Rights and Business Principles (CRBP) and CSR; provides regular support to partners, document best practices and encourages the sharing of information and lessons learnt between organizations to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach between the activities of partner organizations. (20%)
  • Organizes and helps generate public support for special events, including for public-private partnerships initiatives. (20%)
  • Prepares communication and promotional materials in support of the public-private partnerships, CRBP and CSR initiatives, and assists in the planning, logistic and administrative arrangements for them. (10%)
  • Assists in drafting and disseminating public information material, such as articles, press releases, human interest stories and other advocacy/information materials for both digital and traditional media, as appropriate, in support of public-private partnerships, CRBP and CSR promotion. (10%)
  • Coordinates engagement with opinion-leaders and celebrities, including national ambassadors, as well as supports other advocacy and communication activities to promote children's rights, as required. (10%)
  • IMPACT OF RESULTS

    Makes recommendation on appropriate public-private sector partnerships approaches, as well as CRBP and CSR implementation which might impact the credibility of the organization as well on partnerships for programmme implementation. The time-frame for various activities might affect the achievement of country programme goals. Key results impact will be seen from the private sector engagement strategy implementation, the organization of strategic public advocacy events, as well as the opinion leaders and celebrities' management.

    QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED

  • Education: First University degree in Communication, Public Relations, Social Marketing, International Relations, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Social Science or other relevant disciplines.
  • Work experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional work experience in Mozambique in public relations or social marketing planning, implementation, negotiation and monitoring. Experience with partnerships with private sector organizations, particularly in Corporate Social Responsibility; as well as in alliance building with different organizations. Experience in organizing advocacy events and capacity building sessions. Proven ability to manage relationships with partners, including opinion leaders. Proven capacity to work with a collaborative team across different sections and with different technical skills. Strong writing and communication skills; as well as advocacy materials preparation. Aptitude to handle competing messages and priorities with multiple audiences. Proven computer skills, including various office applications.
  • Languages: Fluency in Portuguese and English.
