OSC seeks well-qualified applications for a senior level Behavior Change Communications (BCC) Team Leader with experience in Mozambique.
The principle task of the Behavior Change Communications (BCC) Team Leader is to develop and implement an integrated BCC strategy to increase the use of modern family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) products and services by target local populations. Specific tasks will include:
- Manage the implementation of a formative research study in target regions to serve as the foundation of the project’s BCC strategy
- Ensuring the implementation of the project’s BCC strategy in all target regions
- Coordinating logistics (tools, materials, supports, equipment) for training activities and all other BCC interventions at the central and regional level
- Developing BCC training curricula for local partners
- Managing the collection of data for annual and quarterly reports
- Participating in the preparation of annual work plans, quarterly reports, and annual reports
- Creating monthly cash requests for BCC activities and tracking expenditures
- Monitor collection and analysis of BCC activity data
- Represent the project to international and local partners
The BCC Team Leader’s role will also act as the manager for the three BCC Experts located in the project’s regional offices of Gaza, Sofala, and Zambezia. The BCC Team Leader will serve as the point of contact for the BCC Experts’ human resources and administrative needs, will oversee the BCC Experts’ activities, and will conduct supervisory visits to the regional offices to build the capacity of the BCC Experts and assist them in implementing communications interventions, including:
- Training local partners in BCC techniques and in the evaluation of communications campaigns
- Creating local communications campaigns involving local opinion leaders and other influential community members
- Implementing BCC interventions specifically targeting youth
The BCC Team leader will collaborate with other project staff and local partners and the central and regional level as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences
- Minimum ten years experience in coordinating and implementing BCC campaigns in Mozambique
- Professional experience creating public awareness campaigns related to family planning, specifically modern contraception, HIV, and STIs
- Experience providing training in BCC to local partners
- Ability to create and analyze data bases
- Experience developing monitoring and evaluation tools
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Portuguese
- Experience supervising staff
- Strong report writing skills
- Must be Mozambican national
- Experience working with local health actors such as Agente Polivalenter Elementar or *activistas*an advantage
- USAID experience desired
