Established in 1949, SOS Children's Villages is a dynamic social development international organization working globally to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of orphaned and vulnerable children.
The project manager will guide and support MA’s in implementing the alignment of health and education facilities. S/he will assist MA’s in coordinating feasibility studies, design plans for alignment and monitor implementation of the alignment plan. S/he will monitor a portfolio of alignment projects in some specific countries, according to the need. He/she assists with the development of systems and procedures to ensure the effective flow of resources for the achievement of project objectives. S/he will ensure close liaison between stakeholders, e.g. Program Development, PSA’s, Construction, etc. His/her primary duties are (1) to ensure that the client’s needs and requirements are adhered to and (2) that the overall project is completed in a timely and qualitative manner.
Key performance areas and main responsibilities
As key point of contact (as needed) for PSAs at the Regional level on resources provided to some specific projects he/she shall:
Monitors a portfolio of projects implemented by SOS CVI in partnership with countries in the field of Programme Development
Works collaboratively with country offices, SOS CVI Regional Office ESAF and relevant partners, staff and PSAs
Monitors spending in collaboration with the Finance team and country offices, as well as manage reporting
Ensures timely start-up of projects: Support country offices in starting up new funded projects, ensuring support (such as technical advice, capacity building, PSAs, Information.)
Ensures timely and accurate reporting to PSAs and the PD Director of ESAF region
As PD Department staff he/she shall lead Program development & Quality Management
Leads and coordinates implementation of SOS Children’s Village Programme Approach in the countries providing technical expertise as well as facilitating the change processes
With the support of CVI Representatives and Director of Programs, advises national programs staff when setting targets and defining HR requirements and quality measures during annual and strategic planning process
Advises national programs staff in the development of and provides feedback on program ideas, concepts and proposals for new types of interventions
Supports MAs in entering into partnerships with local stakeholders and partners for effectively responding to the needs of the target group in area of their expertise
Provides technical expertise to national programs staff in program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
Provides technical expertise in implementation of organizational and international policies, standards, and policy support documents to both CVI representatives and MAs
Provides feedback, supports and monitors implementation of national plans and programs in her/his area of specific expertise
Monitors key indicators and provides reports on regional trends and developments in specific areas of expertise as requested by the Director of Programs IO ESAF, the CVI Representatives ESAF or the ICC Programme & Strategy
Support the whole development of the PD work
Support Human Resource Development
Supports the recruitment, orientation, on-going development/training and builds capacity of national programs staff to ensure a high level of expertise in line with organizational requirements
Support Learning and knowledge management
Shares information with ESAF Programme functions about innovative program approaches and supports the documentation of such approaches, good practices and lessons learnt
Facilitates processes for internal and external knowledge sharing among national program teams in the region and supports such processes between regions
Under the guidance of the Director of Programs IO ESAF and the ICC Programs and Strategy, keeps abreast with new programme developments and regularly exchanges with advisors in other regions
Participates in global projects/networks as requested.
Support Research and Innovation
Support IO projects and activities, especially in the field of Research and Innovation
Position requirements
BA required; MA preferred in the field of Psychology, Social work, Child Protection, Education, Community Development or Community health.
At least 3 years managing resources and providing support to field offices.
Project management experience.
Experience coordinating processes with large groups of stakeholders.
Team player, strong written and verbal communication skills.
Be able to successfully and productively resolve problems
Be exceptionally detail oriented and technically minded
Be able to successfully manage time, plans, projects and other related tasks
Be able to adequately function in a high expectancy and demand position
Be able to continuously meet targets and surpass expectations
Be extremely proficient and knowledgeable
